AI Photo-booth: A Museum Experience Where Every Visitor Becomes an AI-Generated Character @ Param Innovation

Overview: Built with Param Innovation Team for Vedanta Make-athon, this wasn't just a fun photo experience, it was a strategic one. Rooted in Vedanta's Tattvas, the AI Photo booth turned 1000+ visitors into AI-generated characters while quietly doing the real work: driving interaction, building brand awareness, and collecting visitor data seamlessly. Delight on the surface, strategy underneath.

The Original Brief:

Create an interactive photobooth where users manually select their gender, then choose which character they want to see themselves transformed into before taking a photo.

Initial Problem Statement ⁉️

I noticed an issue...

The brief gave users too much control and zero surprise. 

Pre-selecting your character kills the magic—there's no discovery, no shareability, no "I have to show this to my friends" moment. It was predictable. Safe. Forgettable.

My Intervention 💪 

How did I go about this?

Mystery & Enthusiasm

I flipped the entire experience. I removed all the upfront choices and moved the intelligence to the backend. Now, users simply take a photo and wait. The AI processes their image, analyses their features, and assigns them a character. The mystery happens in that gap between the click and the reveal.

  • 💪 Removed manual selection → Added AI-driven character mapping.

  • 🤨 Eliminated predictability → Introduced suspense and anticipation.

  • 👀 Shifted control from user to experience → Made the reveal feel personalised, not chosen.

  • 🚀 Added BuzzFeed-style descriptions → Gave each character personality and share-ability.

At an exhibition with 1,000+ attendees, we hit a 30% engagement rate

300+ unique users in just 48 hours.

People lined up multiple times. They brought friends back. The mystery made it irresistible. I killed the boring part. By taking away choice and adding surprise, I turned a customisable photo tool into an experience people couldn't predict—and couldn't stop talking about.
